Roswell Park and Marrano/Marc Equity Announce a Groundbreaking Partnership for Cancer Research
Home build celebrates Marrano Homes’ 50th anniversary
while offering hope for cancer cures
BUFFALO, NY—Dr. David C. Hohn, President & CEO of Roswell Park Cancer Institute, along with representatives from Marrano/Marc Equity announced today their new partnership, Raising the Roof, an innovative fundraising project for cancer research at Roswell Park with a goal to raise $150,000 or more.
In honor of their 50th anniversary of homebuilding in Western New York, Marrano Homes is building a patio home in the Springbrook Shores development, off Rice Road in Elma, NY. Upon the sale of the home, Marrano is donating the proceeds to Roswell Park to fund groundbreaking cancer research. Marrano has solicited the support of their business partners including donated products, services and time in order to maximize funds raised for the project. Construction on the home began this past winter and it is estimated that the home building process will be completed mid-summer. The house will then be sold on the open market.
The Raising the Roof project is also helping make a dream become reality for eleven year-old Roswell Park patient, Kaitlyn Schneider. Kaitlyn’s dream is to become an architect and interior designer, and she will be junior interior design assistant for the Raising the Roof home. Kaitlyn will begin working with the Marrano interior design team this month to prepare the home for its eventual sale.
A series of events will be held throughout the summer, including a VIP sneak preview event on Saturday, July 15, from 4-6 pm. An open house will follow on Sunday, July 16, from 10 am-6 pm, where all furnished items in the home will be auctioned off, contributing to the project’s fundraising goal.
Raising the Roof is the latest example of philanthropic support from the Marrano family to Roswell Park. Patrick and Arlinda Marrano chaired the 2003 real estate Industry Campaign, which raised over $130,000 for cancer research and patient care at Roswell Park.
Additionally, Patrick Marrano, President of Marrano/Marc Equity Corporation, has served in a leadership role as a trustee for the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation Board, and currently serves on the Foundation’s development committee. Arlinda Marrano is currently serving on the Raising the Roof event committee for the Alliance Foundation.
