Patient-Artists Turn Illness into a Gift with Creation of "Jamie's Bracelets"
MEDIA ADVISORY

Algonquin Studios, Inc. hosts Art Party for cancer patients to pay tribute to a special girl
WHAT: Jamie Badding, the young cancer patient who inspired thousands of Western New Yorkers by stringing together beaded bracelets to raise money to help other kids facing cancer, sadly left us this past December at age 10. But her legacy will continue tonight thanks to the Badding family, and other courageous pediatric cancer patients. As a way to keep this generous young girl's spirit alive, Algonquin Studio's, Inc., of Buffalo, will host a "Beading Art Party" so that members of The Paint Box Project at Roswell Park can create hundreds of "Jamie's Bracelets" to be sold through Roswell's 2008 Holiday Card and Gift Collection. The collection goes on sale online at www.PaintBoxProject.com, starting September 1, 2008. All funds raised will support the most promising cancer research and patient care programs at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
WHEN: Wednesday, June 11, 2008, 4-7 pm
WHERE: Algonquin Studios, 400 Brisbane Building, 403 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14203

Created in 1990 by the volunteers of the Roswell Park Alliance, the Project hosts art parties where children create original designs that are featured on holiday and all-occasion cards and merchandise.
