(BUFFALO, NY) Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) today announced a new partnership with ShortTrack USA Experience, a stockcar-themed fantasy driving experience at Holland NASCAR MotorSports Complex, to raise funds for cancer research and patient care at RPCI. The ShortTrack USA Experience will launch at Holland in the Spring of 2008, and interested companies are now being sought to participate in the program.
The ShortTrack USA Racing for Roswell program is an opportunity for area companies to get involved in the fight against cancer in a new and exciting way. Teams of five associates from each participating company will compete in racing events, including a pit crew challenge and driving challenge, to determine the overall winner of the 2008 Racing for Roswell Cup. Companies may also have multiple teams participate in the program. A portion of the proceeds from every company’s ShortTrack USA Experience participation fee will benefit Roswell Park.
At the conclusion of the season, a finale event will be held at Holland NASCAR Motorsports Complex. The top two teams will compete on a Saturday night in front of their company supporters, NASCAR race fans and guests from Roswell Park to determine the 2008 Racing for Roswell Cup Champion.
According to Bill Heiler and Larry Rera, founders of ShortTrack USA Experience, in addition to providing a fun and exhilarating experience, "this program is a great teambuilding opportunity that teaches participants to support each other in a highly competitive racing environment where success and failure are often measured in fractions of a second."
ShortTrack USA Experience principals also include Holland NASCAR MotorSports Complex General Manager, Timothy Bennett, and current NASCAR crew chief Paul Wolfe, who in 2004 drove a Roswell Park-themed car in the NASCAR Grand National Division that helped to generate $60,000 in donations for RPCI with support from Sahlen's, West Herr and Wegmans.
Companies interested in participating in the 2008 program can contact ShortTrack USA Experience at 716-444-3708 for program details.
In addition to the Racing for Roswell corporate program, ShortTrack USA Experience will also offer individual ride-along and driving experiences to the general public. As individual participants experience the adrenaline-pumping world of racing, a portion of the proceeds will benefit RPCI.
The official ShortTrack USA Experience show car for the Roswell Park fundraiser is on display in the McKinley Mall in Hamburg, New York through December 23, 2008. Gift certificates are now available at the show car display or by visiting www.driveSTUSA.com.
