Annual Keith’s Classic for Carly’s Club Tournament To Create “Legendary” Memories
June 7, 2006
Inspired by one boy’s courage, event returns to Legends on the Niagara, July 13
Up to 360 golfers of all skill levels will again take to the greens on Thursday, July 13 to continue a 19-year tradition of raising funds for pediatric cancer research and care programs at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. In the process, they’ll help honor the memory of one special child, while offering hope to other children and families now facing cancer.
The Keith’s Classic for Carly’s Club tournament, presented by Sahlen’s, is held each year in memory of Keith Brewer, who succumbed to cancer at the tender age of six. The tournament established strong roots as an annual event at River Oaks golf course. Due to its success and widespread community support from in and outside the Grand Island community, the tournament moved to the larger Legends on the Niagara venue last year.
"This event has only been able to continue and grow thanks to so many friends, families and companies that help build this loyal base of committed participants," explained Jackie Mordaunt, Keith's mother, and a volunteer with the Roswell Park Alliance Community Advisory Board. "As a mother, Keith's life and death from cancer, changed our lives forever. It has become a life's ambition for me and my husband, Tim, to do all that we can to enable Roswell Park's researchers to find ways to end cancer once and for all."
Course options available for golfers this year include 1:00 pm shotgun starts on Legends’ 18-hole Ussher’s Creek and Battlefield courses, and a “Nine & Wine” option on the Chippawa course, which features nine holes and a wine tasting from Creekside Winery.
An auction featuring sports packages and vacation trips will follow competitive golf play on the Legends courses. All golfers also will enjoy extras including a Sahlen’s barbecue lunch, a golf clinic, silent auction and dinner.
Corporate foursomes are now available for the July 13 event. To help patients and families served by Carly’s Club and Roswell Park Cancer Institute through this unforgettable day, please call Claire Daigler at 716-845-4590 or visit www.carlysclub.org for tournament details and sponsorship forms.

ABOUT CARLY’S CLUB at ROSWELL PARK
Carly’s Club was founded by eight-year-old brain cancer patient, Carly Collard Cottone, a strong individual dedicated to enhancing the lives of other kids battling cancer. Carly bravely succumbed to her illness in August 2002, but her “kids helping kids” legacy lives on through the work of Carly’s Club—now Roswell Park’s official pediatric child life division under the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation. All funds raised for Carly’s Club support breakthroughs in childhood cancer research to find cures, and social support activities to improve the lives of children and families served by Roswell Park and other health care centers across Western New York.
