Fifth Annual Carly’s Crossing Open-Water Swim for Childhood Cancer Research
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 10, 2007
Swimmers encouraged to register for August 18 event
Buffalo, NY - Roswell Park Cancer Institute is seeking youths and adults to fundraise and swim this August in a unique, open-water swimming event to benefit pediatric cancer research and patient care programs.
Swimmers will dive into the waters at the Buffalo Small Boat Harbor at Gallagher Beach on Saturday, August 18 to continue what has become a fun, family-oriented tradition presented by the Roswell Park Alliance Community Advisory Board and Creditors Interchange. All proceeds raised will benefit Carly’s Club for Kids & Cancer Research at Roswell Park.
Carly’s Crossing features options of both one-mile and 600-yard non-competitive courses, with the additional option of a one-mile timed course (new this year). The event is open to competitive and recreational swimmers of all ages who are willing to raise a minimum of $50 in pledges. Food, entertainment, family activities and a swimmer recognition ceremony will follow at Gallagher Beach throughout the day.
Last year’s event involved 325 swimmers who raised over $100,000 for groundbreaking research seeking cures, and patient programs supporting children and families facing cancer. This year’s event promises to be even more exciting with more swimmers and activities.
For registration and sponsorship details, or to support this year’s swimmers through a secure online pledge, visit http://www.CarlysCrossing.com or call Robin Hace at 716-845-4100.
