About the Sandra C. Genco Excellence in Oncology Nursing Award at Roswell Park
When Sandy Genco passed away in January 2002 from her cancer, there was an outpouring of gifts made in her memory, so her family chose to establish a permanent endowed fund to honor her memory. The fund's annual distribution is proudly given as an award to a registered nurse at Roswell Park whose work exemplifies the type of caregiving that Sandy and her family received while she was a patient. The winner of this award is selected each year through a competitive nomination process after review of applications sent by patients, family members and faculty and staff at RPCI.
