Stuart Scheff Of Amherst “Chips In” To Raise Funds For Carly’s Club at Roswell Park Cancer Institute
On Monday, June 20th, Amherst resident Stuart Scheff raised nearly $16,000 for pediatric cancer research at Roswell Park by golfing 100 holes in less than ten hours at the Westwood Country Club. Scheff’s effort was in honor of family friend Carly Collard Cottone, who passed away from brain cancer in 2002 at age 11.
After a full day of golf, Scheff ended with a phenomenal score of 453; but the real victory was the funds raised for Carly’s Club at Roswell Park. Scheff’s hope is to make this one-man golf-a-thon an annual event to support patients and families, while continuing the mission of Carly’s Club for Kids and Cancer Research.
Since its inception, Carly’s Club has grown to become Roswell Park’s official pediatric fundraising and child life division. All funds raised through Carly’s Club assist research to find cancer cures, and support programs to make life more manageable for children with cancer and their families at Roswell Park and across Western New York.
Generous backing was provided by Westwood Country Club and donors who pledged their support for Scheff. For more information on the 2006 “Chip In For Carly’s Club” golf-a-thon, please contact Colleen Mullins at 716.845.3889.
