14th Annual Bosom Buddies Walk to Support Breast Resource Center
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 18, 2008
The 14th annual Bosom Buddies Walk for Roswell will be held on September 20, 2008, in East Aurora, NY. Up to 500 walkers will choose from 1.5-, 3- or 5-mile walks to raise awareness and funds for the Western New York Breast Resource Center at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. The event will also feature a basket auction, silent auction and lunch courtesy of Outback Steakhouse.
The walk will begin at East Aurora Middle School, 430 Main Street, and continue through the scenic village of East Aurora. The 5-mile walk will begin at 10 a.m., and the 1.5- and 3-mile walks will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Founded in 1993 as a breast cancer support group, Bosom Buddies has raised more than $500,000 for the Western New York Breast Resource Center since the first walk in 1995.
Thanks to funds from the first two Bosom Buddies walks, the Center was opened in 1997 as a free resource to all breast cancer patients, regardless of where they receive treatment. Over the past 11 years, the Center has assisted thousands of individuals by providing individualized information and emotional comfort. Visitors can obtain information about breast health, learn more about treatment options, become involved with breast cancer support and advocacy groups, and take advantage of free and/or discounted wigs.
