The 13th annual Ride For Roswell held on Saturday, June 28, brought together 6,200 registered cyclists and 1,000 volunteers in support of Roswell Park Cancer Institute and raised a record $2.0 million for research and patient care. The event offered riders a choice of seven routes: eight miles, 20 miles, 30 miles, 33 miles, 44 miles, 62.5 miles and a new 13.3 mile Peloton that connected the Roswell Park campus to the Ride's main courses that started at the University at Buffalo's North (Amherst) campus. The Ride was presented by Wegmans, with support from Wellness Sponsor, Praxair, Inc., and Peloton Sponsor, Sahlen Packing Co.
The previous 2007 Ride had nearly 5,000 riders and raised a then-record $1.7 million.
"On behalf of my colleagues, our patients and their families, I would like to express my gratitude for the incredible support provided by this year's participants and volunteers in The Ride For Roswell," said Dr. Donald L. Trump, Roswell Park Cancer Institute's President and CEO. "Their hard work will help Roswell Park initiate innovative new research to help save lives, and will support programs to make a daily positive difference in the lives of our patients and their families." Trump added that Ride donations also help to support the recruitment of top doctors and scientists to Roswell Park.
Over 400 teams participated this year, in addition to many individuals and volunteer groups. For additional post event information visit www.RideForRoswell.org, or call 716-845-8788.
