Fellowships in Oncology
Roswell Park Cancer Institute is the oldest center dedicated to providing total care to the cancer patient, to conducting research into the causes, treatment and prevention of cancer, and to educating the next generation of those who study and treat cancer. Roswell Park was one of the first three cancer centers named by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) as a model for comprehensive centers following the adoption of the National Cancer Act in 1971.
Clinical fellowships at Roswell Park provide physicians with advanced clinical training in oncology and in oncologic research. Fellows spend from one to two or more years in the Institute’s advanced clinical training programs and have the opportunity to conduct clinical and basic research projects in their areas of specialization under the supervision of senior staff. Fellows are also afforded didactic training in clinical research and the oncological sciences.
Fellowship training is offered in a myriad of clinical areas including: anesthesiology, bone marrow transplantation, breast surgery, dentistry, dermatology, diagnostic radiology, gynecology, head and neck surgery, investigational therapeutics, medical oncology and hematology, neurosurgery, nuclear medicine, pathology, pediatrics, radiation medicine, GI surgery, thoracic surgery and urology.
Fellows find their clinical skills are sharpened through their fellowship experience at Roswell Park, yet caseloads, permit them the time and opportunity to participate in clinical or basic research, attend seminars, and write papers. The interaction between the basic scientists and clinical fellows creates an environment that nurtures clinical and translational research.
